High Yield Paddy Cultivation

 Assist Farmers in high yield paddy cultivation by helping the farmers to select good grain quality, high market price, optimum yield potential and stability over seasons, Maximum tillering capacity for weed competition, Resistance or tolerance to major diseases, insects, and other environment stresses, right growth duration , avoid varieties that need to be planted or harvested earlier or later than surrounding rice fields to minimize pest damage and growth problems during times of harmful environmental conditions .

  • Promote and support Systematic Rice Intensification Technology in winter crop cultivation and in low rainy area.
  • To upgrade the quality of farmer-saved seed, which is about 80-85% of the total seed used for crop production programme, linkage with SEEDNET INDIA to provide financial assistance for distribution of foundation/certified seed at 50% cost of the seed of crops for production of certified/quality seeds only and for training on seed production and technology to the farmers.

High yield cash crops

 Developing demonstration plot for high yield vegetable cultivation in different areas so that the farmers can have hand on experience.

  • Sensitize the farmers that it is not just enough to plant seeds and hope for the best, but also to understand the growth potential by having a detailed knowledge on kind of vegetables to be planted and kinds of seeds to be used, ensure proper water management system, fertilizers to be used and soil testing.
  • Facilitate and demonstrate varieties of high yield cash crop like cucumber, beans, broccoli, Zucchini, sweet potatoes, plum etc.

Livestock rearing and Fish Farming

 Animal rearing is considered an associate business with agricultural activities in rural India. Animal husbandry is an integral component of Indian agriculture, supporting livelihood of almost 55% of the rural population.

  • Developing demonstration plot for high yield vegetable cultivation in different areas so that the farmers can have hand on experience
  • Emphasis on Cattle farming, Goat farming, Piggery and both backyard poultry as well as Broiler farming including other economical poultry breeds.
  • Emphasis on fresh water and salty water fish farming even with small pond.
  • Develop a chain through which the farming cycle will be integrated within.
  • Develop fish feed farm for provision to the farmers at affordable cost.

Horticulture-Fruits, Medicinal, aromatic & ornamental plants

For enabling agriculture to become a sustainable livelihood option for small and marginal farmers, Grameen Utsarga will promote Integrated Farming System in the rural area. This approach is all about integrating agriculture and its allied activities for facilitating optimum use of available resources to generate a sustainable livelihood. Horticulture is one such activity that currently we are encouraging farmers for vegetable cultivation and fruit plantation. This will not only provide a dependable source of income to small and marginal farmers but also fulfilling their nutritional requirements. Advanced and area-specific inputs coupled with healthy and sustainable techniques of cultivation will be introduced in the target areas to ensure quantity as well as quality of produce. Some silent features of this intervention will be :

  • By introducing advanced and area-specific input for vegetable cultivation, a dependable source of income is being generated for small and marginal farmers in this tribal area.
  • Promotion of healthy techniques for cultivation to ensure quality of produce.
